Remote Reply feature enables you to manage and respond to SMS messages from a secondary phone number. Essentially, you can use a different phone (secondary phone) to respond to SMS messages as if you were using your primary phone. Here primary phone is the device where Forward SMS app is installed.

In case you want to send an automatic reply on every SMS received, please use the Auto Reply feature in Advanced Rule.

The app will automatically detect the phone number or contact name and send the SMS from the primary phone number. The recipient will see the SMS as if it was sent from the primary phone number.


This feature is particularly useful when you are not in possession of your primary phone but still need to reply to important messages. By utilizing a secondary phone, you can stay connected and responsive.



Reply using Contact Number or Phone Number:

Users can specify the recipient of the SMS either by typing the contact name or entering a phone number. This flexibility makes it easy to reply to phone numbers that not saved in contacts. Please note if a contact name is chosen, it must be saved in the address book of the primary phone. This ensures that the remote reply feature integrates seamlessly with the user’s existing contacts. Refer to the formats supported to know more.


Allowing multiple secondary phone numbers:

The feature also supports multiple secondary phones. This means that more than one secondary phone can be authorized to reply to SMS messages on behalf of the primary phone. Each secondary phone can independently reply to messages and select where the responses should be sent.


Please follow below steps to set up Remote Reply:

  1. Open app menu and select Remote Reply.

  2. Enter the phone number which can trigger sending remote reply. Only the numbers entered here will be allowed to send SMS.

  3. (Optional) You can also allow all phone numbers to trigger remote reply but be cautious as it could lead anyone sending SMS on your behalf.
  4. Tap on Save button and Voila! you're all set.


How to send remote reply from secondary phone number

1. Start the SMS with phone number or contact name where the SMS is to be send. Prefix contact detail with '@'.

Example 1: @Wife I'll be late from work today.

Example 2: @1234567890 I'll be late from work today.

2. If the contact name contains spaces, wrap the detail with brackets'()'

Example 1: @(John) Lets watch the match in club.

Example 2: @(123 456 7890) Lets watch the match in club.

In essence, remote reply capability enhances accessibility and flexibility in managing SMS communications by enabling replies from designated secondary phones and providing options to choose the recipient phone number or contact. It ensures that you can stay connected and responsive even when your primary phone is not readily accessible.
